The Gibbon Conservation Center was established in 1976 by Alan Richard Mootnick. It houses the rarest group of apes in the Western Hemisphere and is the only institution in the world to house and breed all four genera of gibbon.

The Gibbon Research Lab has been active since 1980. It is located at the Anthropological Institute of Zürich University in Switzerland.Research here covers the whole biology of the gibbons or small apes (Hylobatidae).

John Steckley's new book on gibbons is a charming and delightful look at the planet’s best brachiators, containing key information about gibbons, both biological, and cultural. John also recounts many of his own personal experiences with gibbons.
